The future of dentistry powered by AI

Digital intraoral scanning and Pearl AI second opinion for x-rays are now included as part of your dental check-up, supporting more precise diagnoses.

A 3D view of your teeth and gums allows you to see and better understand your oral health, while the Pearl AI helps visualise issues by using colour-coded imaging.

What are the benefits of regular check-ups?

The health of your teeth is invaluable, and prevention is better than treatment further down the line. Regular check-ups give your dentist the opportunity to halt any signs of gum disease or tooth decay and work with you to keep your smile fresh and bright, now and in the future. Routinely examining your smile can identify problems early.

        Check-ups help to

        • Prevent gum disease and mouth cancer
        • Maintain good oral health
        • Prevent halitosis (bad breath)
        • Retain your teeth
        • Keep a whiter, brighter smile

          What does a check-up include?

On your first visit, a complete health history will be taken to provide us with a broad understanding of your individual needs. Your dentist may take an x-ray of your teeth. An x-ray can be invaluable for ascertaining the current landscape of your jaw, for example the position of any wisdom teeth, and for diagnosing any issues that may otherwise go unnoticed.

At every check-up, your dentist will perform a comprehensive examination of your mouth, teeth and gums. They will examine the health of the soft tissue in your mouth (cheeks and tongue). Your Hayes Dental Specialists dentist will also offer mouth cancer screening and offer advice and guidance on continued and improved dental care.

How often should I have a check up?

Your Hayes dentist will advise on how often you should have your teeth checked as part of your oral care routine. This will depend on your individual needs. Some people schedule a dental check up once or twice a year, while others, who may require or have undergone treatment, will need to visit more frequently. You and your local Hayes dentist will discuss the most suitable frequency for general check ups and work out a date and time that suits you.

              Children's teeth

We provide NHS free examinations and treatments for children if they are under the age of 18 or under 19 and in full-time education.

Our aim is to protect your children’s teeth, prevent decay and promote oral hygiene techniques that ensure that your children keep their teeth for life.

We work closely with each child to take care of their teeth and develop good long lasting habits for the future. We aim to promote an understanding of what causes decay by delivering exceptional oral health education to all our children. We routinely educate your children about dental plaque and explain about prevention through cleaning, polishing and of course, the importance of a great diet.

                Mouth cancer screening

At Hayes Dental Specialists your health is our number one priority, and as part of our comprehensive check ups we perform mouth cancer screening. Throughout your ongoing care, any soft tissue changes are reviewed on a regular basis. Mouth cancer screening is necessary, routine and potentially lifesaving.
