What are All-on-4 dental implants?

Traditional implant procedures require between three and six months between placing an implant and restoring with the final replacement teeth. This ensures that following placement, the area completely heals and the implant bonds with the jaw, before it bears any load from the permanent replacement teeth. During this time, temporary restorations are often provided to ensure you are not left with any gaps.

What is involved?

1. Diagnostics

The dentist will take an X-ray and impression of your jaw, to produce an exact copy as a study model
A removable denture will then be constructed for the intended teeth and will be transformed into a template for the CT scanning
If required, a CT scan may be taken to help visualise and diagnose the jaws 3 dimensionally, to ensure there is enough bone to place the dental implants – This will also establish where your nerves and sinuses are.

2. Implant Placement

The dentist will take an X-ray and impression of your jaw, to produce an exact copy as a study model
A removable denture will then be constructed for the intended teeth and will be transformed into a template for the CT scanning
If required, a CT scan may be taken to help visualise and diagnose the jaws 3 dimensionally, to ensure there is enough bone to place the dental implants – This will also establish where your nerves and sinuses are.

3. Provisional Restoration

On the day of the implant placement, a full fixed arch prosthesis will be attached

4. Permanent Restoration

After the 3 month healing period, the final or permanent restoration will be fitted
The final solution can include both removable and fixed prostheses
The fixed solution will include an implant bridge with porcelain or acrylic crowns cemented to the framework of the bridge
The removable solutions include over-dentures on an implant bar that is attached by a variety of attachment systems

Dr Sanjay Patel

Dr Jag Dhanda

Jag Dhanda is a UK trained Consultant Maxillofacial / Head and Neck Surgeon and Clinical Reader with a specialist interest in head and neck cancer and dental implants. He has multiple awards including a presidents prize for his research in head and neck cancer. He is the only UK surgeon to have obtained the college, specialty and faculty research fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and he is the programme director for the MSc programme in Implant Dentistry at the University of Brighton Medical School.

Jag’s scope of practice includes both facial and dental reconstruction and he is one of the highest trained dental implant surgeons in the UK completing basic, higher and advanced surgical training as well as a doctorate in philosophy (PhD). He is on the specialist register and actively involved in cancer research having both a Senior Lecturers position at Imperial College London and a Clinical Readers position at Brighton and Sussex Medical School.

Dr Arman Barfeie

Arman is a Specialist in Fixed and Removable Prosthetic Dentistry and a master of creating beautiful smiles. He is a graduate of Cardiff University, where he completed the 3-year full time specialty training at Cardiff and Vale Dental Hospital, qualifying in 2008.

In May 2015, Arman was top scorer in the board examinations and was awarded the prestigious membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Prosthodontics. Arman describes dental implants and the associated surgery as his passion.

Arman is also an expert in cosmetic dentistry. His aim is to provide patients with predictable, high quality reconstructive dentistry with particular emphasis on fixed and removable prosthodontics including implant surgery and restoration.

Arman is an active reviewer of the Journal of Prosthodontic Dentistry and has published several scientific papers in peer-reviewed dental journals. He has also been invited as a speaker in international dental conferences.
