      Single dental implant

An implant is a great choice for a single missing tooth, whether it’s visible or not, and the results can be life-changing.

      • A single implant provides the foundation for a crown, which will be created at Hayes Dental Specialists to match your teeth exactly.
      • Single dental implants are ideal for any area of the mouth, as they look and feel very realistic.
      • They prevent bone loss around the tooth socket.

        Multiple dental implants

If you have several missing teeth, you have an option to replace them with an implant supported bridge.

        • The implant will provide a solid support for your replacement tooth
        • Alleviates the need to file down the neighbouring healthy teeth, in order to attach the bridge in place
        • Your bridge is anchored to your implants which bonded with your jaw

          All-on-4® (Same Day Teeth)

Same Day Teeth is a process at Hayes Dental Specialists where patients can have implants placed and fully functioning teeth attached in the space of one day.

          • This uses just four implants to support an upper or lower denture, and you can leave our practice the same day with fixed, non-removable teeth!

            Implant secured dentures

With advances in Implant Dentistry, we offer innovative techniques for denture stabilisation, ensuring they are comfortable and will not slip. Some of the benefits are:

            • Chewing function is improved - the denture is much more stable - reduced risk of digestive problems
            • Better support for facial tissues - giving a more 'youthful' appearance

              Kunal Datta Profile

              Dr Kunal Datta

              Dentist
BDS (Manc) 2010, MSc Clinical Implantology (UCLan 2020)
              GDC no. 193028

Kunal is an implant dentist with a heart for creating healthy smiles. With a Master’s Degree in Implant Dentistry, Kunal has been transforming smiles by replacing badly broken or missing teeth. His commitment to excellence is evident in his continuous learning about the latest techniques in bone grafting and gum contouring, ensuring that implants look and feel as natural as possible. Kunal is a proud member of the British Dental Association and the International Team of Implantology. This connects him to a global network of leading implantologists, keeping him at the forefront of the field.

Kunal is proficient in replacing single or multiple teeth. He is currently pursuing advanced certifications in Bone and Tissue Regeneration, Sinus Grafting, and Full Mouth Oral Implant Rehabilitation, building upon his Master's Degree. This specialized training equips him to handle the most challenging cases, even for patients who have been told by their own dentists that implants are not possible due to a lack of bone.

His passion for surgery stemmed from his time serving as a Senior House Officer in Oral Surgery at the world-renowned Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead. There, he performed many complex tooth extractions, including wisdom teeth procedures. Furthermore, he assisted in jaw alignment surgery and cancer operations. This often involved helping to place implants for patients who had lost teeth due to their cancer.

Kunal is also a certified Invisalign Full provider and thrives on the challenge of correcting complex alignment issues, complementing his work as an implant surgeon. This dual expertise allows him to create beautifully straight and symmetrical smiles, free of missing teeth. His ability to optimize the shape and size of gaps before implant placement distinguishes him from many implant surgeons, leading to superior functional and aesthetic outcomes.

              Implant, general, cosmetic, Invisalign dentist
BDS (Kings College London 2008), Cert Implantology (2016 & 2022), Cert. Aesthetic Dent (Kings College, 2018), Cert. Aesthetic Dent (2020), Clear Aligners Dip (Invisalign, 2020)
              GDC No. 153553

Vinesh's passion for Oral Surgery and Implants started at Guys and Kings College Hospital, London in 2008, where he was a Senior House Officer. He progressed immediately as a Staff Grade and teacher in Oral Surgery for the next 5 years, and consequently has developed a very good set of surgical hands.

He has completed 2 separate yearlong UK Implant training pathways, the first being in 2016. He is able to place and restore single and multiple units with bone and soft tissue grafting, with sinus lifts if needed. Such is his passion for implants he is committed to continually learning and excelling in this field by attending multiple accredited post graduate implant courses.

He is currently performing Full Arch/All on 4/6 ("Teeth in a day") Implants at Hayes Dental Specialists, for patients who require extractions of all their remaining teeth and then replaced with 4-6 implants on the same day. Vinesh uses a 3D digital scanner in combination with CBCT (3D X-rays) to ensure precise planning and placement of your dental implants. He is a member of the ITI and Association of Dental Implantologists in the UK and invests his time with conference and lectures.

Additionally, he is highly experienced in cosmetic and general dentistry, having been practicing dentistry for 18 years which ensures his patients can receive a whole mouth approach rather than treating a single area, ensuring a harmonious outcome.

Above all, his most commendable quality is his compassionate and patient-focused approach. His innate desire to always putting his patients’ best interests first is reflected in the consistently positive Google reviews and excellent feedback he receives. As a result, he has become one of the most highly regarded and popular dentists at Hayes Dental.

              Results that speak for themselves

This patient presented to Dr. Kunal Datta with a missing lateral incisor and intolerance to her denture. Our solution: a dental implant to restore both function and aesthetics. The case involved meticulous planning due to a narrow gap and the need for bone grafting, which was performed concurrently with implant placement. The final result, including tooth whitening and a natural-looking implant crown, has left the patient thrilled. She is now exploring composite bonding options with her general dentist to enhance her aesthetics further.

Severe upper tooth loss can lead to a 'collapsed' facial appearance, premature wrinkles, and difficulty chewing. Dr Kunal Datta's patient sought his expertise to address these concerns. He performed an upper All-on-4 procedure (Teeth in a day), replacing her missing teeth with a fixed, implant-supported bridge. This not only restored her chewing ability but also rejuvenated her facial structure, resulting in a more youthful and confident smile.

              How is an implant fitted?

Assessment: Every treatment begins with an assessment from your local Thorpe Bay dentist who will be performing your implant treatment. They will discuss all the options with you, make an assessment of the best solution for you, and ensure you understand every step of your treatment. You will have an x-ray and, in some cases, a CT scan to help visualise your jaw, ensure your gums are healthy and that there is enough jaw bone to place the implant.

The treatment: This is when the implant is placed into your jaw. It’s a straightforward process which can be completed under local anaesthetic. If you are particularly nervous or have a dental phobia, your dentist will make sure you feel absolutely comfortable with the treatment, and can provide sedation if needed.

The implants will need three to six months to heal and integrate with your jaw bone to provide a solid support for the crown or bridge.

Depending on your treatment and your dentist’s diagnosis, a temporary crown can be fitted at the same time as your initial appointment. Same day teeth is a modern procedure which enables you to walk out of the clinic with brand new teeth in just one day. These will stay in place until the final restoration appointment.

Once your jaw has healed, your dentist will take an impression of your mouth. This enables a dental technician to build your bespoke crown or bridge, which will be colour matched to blend seamlessly with your other teeth.

Restoration: It may be necessary to have a separate appointment between six weeks and six months after your initial treatment, to allow the implant to fully integrate. This ensures that your jaw has completely healed before the crown or bridge is permanently fitted.

              Your smile is now complete.

              How long do implants last?

Once the implant post has integrated with the bone and surrounding soft tissue, its longevity will be down to the quality of at-home care and attendance at regular clinical reviews. Just as with natural teeth, poor care can lead to gum infection, bleeding and general discomfort. However, well-maintained implants can be expected to last many years and often a whole lifetime.
